IELTS: The International English Language Testing System
Perhaps the most recognizable certification, IELTS is used by universities, immigration authorities and employers. It is a skills-based test that is constructed to give an accurate estimation on how well you can communicate in English. All levels take the same test, meaning there is no pass or fail. Certificates have an official validity of 2 years.
Cambridge Main Suite Exams
Classic level-specific exams that generally require a longer preparation time than IELTS but that don't have an expiration. These are pass or fail exams, thus it is important to choose the correct exam at the beginning of your preparation journey.

Test of English as a
Foreign Language
Another very popular test, most commonly used for American university admissions purposes. Just like IELTS, there is one test for all levels, with each test taker receiving a certificate. TOEFL is generally preferred in the American market, while IELTS is the norm globally. Certificates remain valid for two years.

Occupational English Test
To work in a medical profession in an English-speaking country, you will likely need to prove your English level before registering with the appropriate authority. The two main options are IELTS Academic and OET. OET is a fantastic option for medical professionals, as the exam is tailored to the career. Similar to IELTS and TOEFL, it is an all-level test.
Business Exams
Business English certifications can help you to become a more competitive job applicant or to be eligible for a promotion. They focus on business-related vocabulary and certify your ability to successfully communicate in English. The most well-known are the Cambridge Business exams:
